The Hearing Link logo is a butterfly. The butterfly is symbolic of the transition that people with hearing loss make: the caterpillar stage represents life before deafness; the cocoon stage characterises the isolation of hearing loss and finally, the butterfly itself symbolises the breaking out of the cocoon back into the world. But the analogy goes deeper still as it is widely believed that caterpillars can actually hear, whereas butterflies cannot. Look closely and you will see the butterfly is made of sound waves.
